David gets his ear ripped off

One day in Peoa, when he was about 7, David was playing with a german shepard. While they were playing, the owners came and clipped the dog onto a chain. The dog didn't realize this, so while he had his paws on David's shoulders, he suddenly came to the end of the chain and was pulled off balance. Coming down, the dog's mouth sliced up the back of David's head and the paw pulled David's ear nearly off. His brother Dennis was standing nearby in shock looking at David's bloody head. David said something witty like "Are you going to go get Mom or what?" Dennis quickly did. When Ma came, she screeched and worried. Dad said something like "Well, let's get him in the car and over to Kamas." So, they got in the car. David had a towel wrapped around his head and was laying on his mom's lap. The doctor they went to was Doctor Kirigichi (?) who had been an army surgeon in WWII with the Imperial Japanese Army (an enemy, only about 15 years prior!) and was used to dealing with crazy shrapnel wounds, so they were very blessed to have him to stitch up David. He was able to close the wounds and carefully sew the ear back on. Dad counted to a hundred stitches before he lost track, there were many more. David had to stay in the hospital for a few days, while they made sure the dog did not have rabies and no infections developed. David made a complete recovery and suffered no hearing damage from the incident.
